Red flags that a rep seller is about to waste your money

Warning signs taken from what buyers actually posted — silence after payment, fake tracking, stock that does not exist, QC that does not match the album.

Published 2026-08-10

Almost nobody in this hobby loses money to a dramatic scam. They lose it to a seller who takes the order, goes quiet, ships six weeks late, sends the wrong size, and then outlasts them on the refund. The loss is real either way, and the warning signs are usually in a Reddit thread that already existed before the order was placed.

Everything below is a pattern we can point at in the quoted corpus behind this site. Nothing below is a verdict on anyone: a seller who behaved this way in one thread in 2025 is a seller who behaved this way in that thread, and that is all we know.

Silence is the signal, not the delay

Long waits are normal here. A silent wait is different, because the seller who has stopped answering has already decided your order is not worth their time.

Rocket is a scam. My agent (Superbuy) place and order for a Casablanca shirt on 4/23. Seller has not replied at all. I reached out on Whatsapp and no reply either.

The same shape shows up with a different seller seven months later, from someone still mid-order:

I purchased 5 items and after 4 days only 2 have been shipped. Also, the Nike Tech tracksuit I purchased has disappeared from the catalog link (rainbowreps). Now I feel stressed, the seller doesn't respond to me when I contact him on WhatsApp.

The second one is worth reading twice. The item vanishing from the catalogue and the messages going unanswered are the same event seen from two sides. Both are on the rockets-reps evidence page and the rainbowreps page with their threads attached.

A tracking number is not a shipped parcel

One commenter describes a practice they say is not limited to the seller in that thread:

Sellers been giving out fake tracking ID's for years on here, its just a way so it looks like they sent it out but are probably scrambling to make up the orders and get the factory making more products. Scummy move but its not just goat doing this.

That is one person's account from 2021 and we have not verified it. What makes it worth carrying is that it names a mechanism you can check yourself: a tracking number that exists but never scans is not evidence of a parcel, and an agent-side order that sits at "seller sent" without a warehouse arrival is the same thing wearing different words.

"In stock" that means "we will make it"

The photograph in the album is not inventory. Sometimes it is a sample, and the order triggers production:

They sell out-of-stock items, then make customers wait until the products are remade before shipping them out. During that time, they don't reply at all. They even read WeChat messages and ignore them.

Nothing about made-to-order is dishonest in itself. The red flag is the combination: no stock, no notice, and no replies while the clock runs. Ask before you pay whether the item is in hand. A seller who answers that question is telling you something a seller who dodges it is also telling you.

The QC photos do not match the album

This is the failure that costs the most, because it arrives after your money is committed and it is the one you can still act on if you look properly:

Asked for lvbag which was supposed to be from a dutyfree factory (+-220euros). QC photos were completely off from lookbook.

QC is the whole point of buying through an agent. Read how to buy reps before your first order and treat the QC photos as a decision, not a formality — that is the last cheap moment in the process.

The refund that exists in theory

Sellers rarely say no to a return. They say yes, slowly:

I can guarantee that you will wait for that refund or exchange long enough that you will not buy another size from him.

When you read a positive review, notice whether anything went wrong in it. Most glowing reviews describe an order where nothing needed fixing, which tells you nothing about what happens when something does. The chaosmade page carries the negative account next to the positive ones for exactly that reason.

The store you cannot actually see

Two structural problems are visible before you ever message anybody, and both are cheap to check.

Neither is proof of anything bad. Both mean you are buying on trust rather than on what you can see, and that is a different transaction from the one you thought you were making.

What is not a red flag

Half the panic in this hobby is aimed at normal friction. An album with no visible buy link is common. A dead agent link from two years ago usually still decodes — paste it into the link decoder rather than assuming the item is gone. A long production wait announced in advance is not the same as silence. And a seller with only a handful of comments about them is not suspicious; they are unmeasured, which is a different problem.

Do the ten-minute check

Before you send money, read the actual threads rather than the summary of them. The evidence we collected links every quote to its permalink, and how to evaluate a rep seller yourself sets out the questions worth asking of any record — including how to tell a thin one from a clean one.
