Most agent reviews you will find are written by people paid to send you to one agent, and they read like it: a list of features nobody measured, a five-star rating nobody earned, and a signup link. This one has a hole in the middle of it, and naming the hole is more useful than filling it with adjectives.
MuleBuy is one of eight shopping agents this site builds buy links for. We have never bought anything through it. Everything below is either the mechanism, which we can verify, or the cost structure, which is common to the whole category, or an explicit gap.
The job an agent does
Chinese sellers mostly do not ship abroad and mostly do not take foreign cards. An agent solves both problems by standing in the middle: it buys the item on your behalf, receives it at a warehouse, photographs it, holds it while you build up a haul, and posts the parcel to you when you say go.
The photograph step is the point. It is the only inspection you get, the item is still in China and still swappable while you are looking at it, and everything a buyer on Reddit ever concluded about a garment was concluded after seeing pictures of the actual object. That is the same standard the seller evidence pages hold quoted buyers to.
What a MuleBuy link is made of
MuleBuy's buy URL is assembled from a platform name and a numeric item id — one value each for Weidian, Taobao and 1688 — rather than an encoded copy of the whole source link. The consequence for you is small but real: the id has to be correct, so a mangled link produces an error rather than a listing.
That is what the link decoder is for. It reads the item id out of the shape of a URL, without a network call, so a dead link from another agent or a long-rotted post still resolves into a working MuleBuy link. It does the same for the other seven agents at the same time, which is the honest way to present a monetised list — you get all of them, not the one that pays best.
What you actually pay
Four numbers, sometimes five, and they are worth separating before you commit:
- The item, at the seller's price.
- Domestic shipping from seller to the agent's warehouse in China.
- The agent's service model — commission, handling charge, or free-service headline with the margin elsewhere. Agents change this whenever they like.
- International shipping, quoted per parcel by chargeable weight and volume, on a line you choose. Broadly: express is fast and expensive, standard is the middle, economy is slow and cheap and suits heavy parcels.
- Optional extras, billed individually — more QC photos, repacking, dropping shoe boxes to cut volumetric weight, insurance, storage past the free period.
You will notice there are no percentages on this page. That is deliberate. We have not measured MuleBuy's fees, they are MuleBuy's to change, and a stale rate quoted with confidence is the sort of thing that gets repeated across twenty sites for two years after it stopped being true. Take the quote you are given for your packed parcel as the price. Import duty on arrival is separate and yours, and the thresholds move — check your own customs authority rather than a forum.
What we verified, precisely
Two URLs, checked automatically: the signup redirect and a real buy link built from a live Weidian item. Not the homepage, which tells you nothing about whether the path a buyer follows works.
The check reports three states rather than two, and the third one is the interesting one. A 403 or a 451 is recorded as inconclusive rather than dead, because several agents in this category refuse bare automated requests while serving browsers perfectly — and one agent's bare host once answered 451 from a European edge while both URLs the site emits returned 200. Treating a bot-block as an outage would mean alerting every run, which is the same as not alerting at all.
What this page cannot tell you
- Whether the parcel arrives when they say. We have not timed one.
- Whether the QC photographs are good enough to catch a bad stitch. Not assessed.
- What happens when an order goes wrong — refunds, losses, damaged goods, an unanswered ticket. No record.
- How MuleBuy's total on a real basket compares with any other agent's. Never run.
- What experienced buyers think of it. The dated quotes this site holds are about sellers and garments; none of them grade an agent.
What would change it
A basket bought identically through several agents, with the invoices kept and the parcels weighed and timed, would be worth publishing. Until somebody does that, an agent page on this site describes and declines to rate, in the same way our ranking method refuses to score a seller nobody has voted on.
