Plans that start at the order and count forwards fail. You pick something, you feel like there is plenty of time, and the schedule is set by optimism rather than by the stage that will actually eat the weeks.
Start at the date instead and walk backwards. Every stage between you and it belongs to somebody else — a seller, a warehouse, a courier, a customs officer — and each one has a range rather than a duration.
Walk it backwards, stage by stage
Count these in reverse from the day the thing has to be in your hands.
- A buffer you do not spend. Whatever the plan says, the parcel should be due meaningfully before the date. If the buffer is zero, you do not have a plan, you have a bet.
- Domestic delivery at your end. After customs clears it, a local carrier still has to get it to your door, and this is the leg that quietly runs over a weekend.
- Your border. Unpredictable by design. It can be hours or it can be a request for documents, and neither is knowable in advance. Customs and duties covers what is actually happening in there.
- International freight. The line you pick sets this, and lines differ enormously. The quote you get is also a quote for that week, not a standing rate — see why the same line quotes differently.
- Packing and dispatch. After you pay the shipping quote, the parcel still has to be packed, weighed and handed over.
- Your own decision time. The QC photos land and then sit there until you look at them. This stage is entirely yours and it is regularly the longest one in a haul.
- Warehouse check-in and photography. The agent receives, unpacks, photographs, and puts it in your account. Queue length varies with how busy the warehouse is.
- Seller to warehouse. A domestic hop inside China, usually quick, occasionally the stage where an order dies quietly.
- The seller's own dispatch. Held stock ships. Made-to-order stock is produced first, which is a different and much longer clock — when an item turns out to be out of stock after payment is the version of this that ruins deadlines.
The two stages that actually vary
Most of the list above is reasonably well behaved. Two are not, and a deadline plan should be built around them specifically.
Stock. Whether the item exists on a shelf right now, or gets made after you pay, is the single biggest fork in the schedule, and it is usually invisible on the listing. Ask before you buy, in writing, and buy the deadline item from a seller who answers.
The QC loop. Photos arrive, something is wrong, you ask for an exchange, the exchange is fetched, photographed, and is wrong again. Every iteration is a full round trip through stages 7 and 8. What the record can date, and what it cannot
This site holds 237 quoted comments about 124 sellers. Exactly seven of them name any number of days, weeks or months, and those seven are not measuring the same thing as each other.
The longest is a buyer who waited out a full order cycle and posted the total:

Those threads sit on TopSelect's page, SixGods' and Ace Shop 100's. Four comments, four different routes, four different starting lines. Nobody should turn that into an average, and this page will not: eight days of freight and forty-seven days end to end are not in tension, they are answers to different questions.
That is the honest state of the evidence. There is no delivery-time dataset behind this site, and anyone quoting you a confident typical duration is describing their own last parcel.
Rules that survive contact with a real date
- Do not make the deadline order your first order with a new seller, a new agent, or a new shipping line. A first order is where you learn the process; learning it under time pressure is the expensive version.
- Buy the date-critical item alone and early, ahead of everything else you want. It should not be waiting on anything.
- Then stop consolidating. A deadline overrides the freight arithmetic entirely — the conditions for shipping without the rest of the haul are in when to consolidate and when to ship.
- Check the Chinese calendar before you commit. A national shutdown lands on every stage above at once, and the backlog afterwards is longer than the holiday. The holidays that stall an order has the pattern.
- Pay for the faster line without arguing with yourself. On a deadline order, freight is the cheapest place to buy certainty.
- Have a plan B that is not a rep. Something you can buy locally the week before. This is what makes the whole thing low-stakes, and it is the only part of the plan entirely under your control.
If it is already late
Chase the stage, not the whole order. Find out which of the nine stages the parcel is actually sitting in before messaging anyone, because the person who can move it is different at each one.
