Tracking has not updated in days: what is normal and what is not

A rep order goes quiet in five predictable places, and only two of them mean anything is wrong. Where the silences are, how long each one normally runs, and what to send when.

A tracking number is not a live feed of where your parcel is. It is a list of moments when somebody scanned a barcode. Between scans there is nothing, and nothing is what you are looking at.

That reframes the question. The useful thing is not "how long is too long" in the abstract — it is knowing which of the five gaps in a rep order you are sitting in, because they behave completely differently and only two are ever a problem.

The five silences, in order

Every order runs the same sequence, and each handover has a stretch where no scan exists to generate.

1. You paid, the seller has not shipped to the warehouse

The longest silence, and the one that generates the most panic, because there is no tracking number to refresh yet. Your agent's order line says something like purchased, or awaiting seller. Nothing is in transit and nothing has failed.

Many of these sellers make to order, in runs. Buyers describe waits here in weeks and still receive the goods:

I received the shoes 47 days after I ordered and paid. I have to admit, the wait was well worth it.

One buyer, one order, quoted in full on the TopSelect evidence page, and not a delivery-time estimate for anybody else. It is here because 47 days ended in an arrival rather than a loss.

Agents will nudge, and the nudge is visible in your account. A 2023 comment names the status people misread:

How long did it take to arrive at warehouse it says they have urged the seller to ship but no response from thunder

"Urged the seller" means your agent has sent a message. It does not mean the seller has answered.

2. In the warehouse, waiting on QC photos

Short, usually. The item arrives, gets logged, and gets photographed. This gap runs a couple of days at most under normal load and stretches around Chinese public holidays, which shut warehouses and factories for real.

3. Submitted for shipping, no international tracking yet

You approved the parcel and paid freight. Now it is being packed, weighed, possibly repacked, and loaded onto a consolidation. The tracking number you were given may not become valid for days, because it is issued before the parcel physically enters the line's network. A number that returns "not found" in this window is normal.

4. In flight, between the departure scan and the arrival scan

The genuinely dead zone. A parcel on a consolidated air route can show one scan leaving China and then nothing at all until it lands and clears. Cheaper lines scan less. Sea freight scans almost not at all for the entire crossing. This is not a fault, it is what you bought.

5. Arrived in country, then quiet

Handover to a local partner, and often a switch to a completely different tracking system. If this one runs long, it has its own page — what "stuck in customs" actually covers — because the causes there are different from every other gap on this list.

The two silences that mean something

Everything above is routine. Two patterns are not.

A status that never changes while the seller stops answering. Not slowness — unresponsiveness on top of slowness. One 2021 comment describes it precisely:

I ordered fire red Jordan 4s and at first it was really good communication and they sent pics of the shoes n everything, but ever since then the order has just said “ready for shipping” for the past two weeks.

That thread is on the FIRE KICKS evidence page. A frozen status plus a silent seller is a different signal from a frozen status alone.

A tracking number that exists but was never real. This is the one worth knowing about, because it defeats the obvious check:

Sellers been giving out fake tracking ID's for years on here, its just a way so it looks like they sent it out but are probably scrambling to make up the orders and get the factory making more products. Scummy move but its not just goat doing this.

One commenter's characterisation from 2021, in context on the GOAT evidence page, and we have not verified it. What is worth repeating is the tell it implies: a domestic tracking number that has never produced a single scan, days after being issued, is a different object from one that scanned once and went quiet. One scan means a parcel physically existed.

What to send, and when

Do not send anything during silences two, three or four. There is nothing for anyone to look up.

For silence one, once the wait has clearly passed ordinary, ask your agent one question: has the seller shipped, and if not, will they refund to balance. Buyers do reach that point, and go looking for a benchmark first:

Hi may I know how long it took you? I placed an order with Dandelion 3 weeks ago and still haven’t received my shoes :(

For silence five, ask the agent to open a trace with the line — that request produces information, where "any update?" produces reassurance.

In all cases: one order, one ticket, order number in the first line, and a specific question with a yes or no answer. A message asking whether there is any news gets a reply saying there is not.

The part that is honestly unknowable

We hold 237 quoted comments across 124 seller pages. Exactly one mentions tracking, and it is the fake-ID comment above. So there is no delivery-time distribution here, no on-time rate by seller, and no comparison of how the agents' lines scan — nobody in the record wrote it down and we have not measured it. Our method is to say so.

What we can say is that the overwhelming majority of these silences end in a parcel. The two things worth doing while one runs are keeping your product links — the decoder rebuilds any that have since died — and not letting a stalled item hold a whole haul past its free storage window. If the answer eventually comes back as unavailable rather than delayed, the stockout page covers what happens next, and how to buy reps has the sequence this all sits inside.
