A subreddit called r/rep has the most generic name available in this hobby, and generic names collect a particular kind of traffic: people who searched the word, found the first result, and posted. Our corpus shows exactly that. Nine of the 124 sellers we index carry r/rep in their list of subreddits, and two of those nine appear in no other subreddit anywhere in our record.
That second number is the one that makes this sub different from its neighbours. We wrote four other guides about rep subreddits from the same corpus, and r/rep is the only one of the five where a seller shows up with nothing else attached to them.
What we actually hold, in figures
Across the whole record we have 237 quoted comments about 124 sellers, drawn from 64 distinct subreddits. r/rep's share of that:
- Nine sellers are tied to the sub. Five of them have at least one quoted comment somewhere in our record; three are named but never quoted; one appears only as a post with no comment activity at all.
- Exactly two of the 237 quoted comments have a permalink in r/rep. They come from threads dated 15 June 2025 and 10 April 2026.
- Those nine sellers appear in an average of 2.9 subreddits each — the lowest figure of the five subs we profiled, and a direct consequence of the two that appear nowhere else.
- Six of the nine also appear in r/FashionReps. Three do not, which again is unusual: in r/CoutureReps, r/Yupoo and r/weidianwarriors, every single tied seller also appears in r/FashionReps.
- Catalogue depth is concentrated. Two of the nine account for all 7,432 items we hold from this group. The other seven contributed nothing our scrape could resolve to both a live link and a usable photograph.
The two threads, and why they are the archetypes
The first comment we hold from r/rep comes from a thread whose entire subject is a seller list — the annual, community-maintained roll call of names that every rep sub produces and nobody ever updates properly:
and u can also try taurus i think he has some kid categories aswell but try weidian the prices are insane
u/mrshengavit, r/rep, 15 June 2025
Read that as a genre, not as a recommendation. Seller-list threads are a snapshot of what a handful of regulars believed on the day the list was posted, with no mechanism to mark a row stale — the same structural problem covered at length in rep spreadsheets explained. The comment's own advice, to buy on Weidian rather than through a middleman's storefront, is the standard move and it is worth understanding before you follow it: Weidian, Taobao and 1688 explained.
The second is from a haul review, and what it does matters more than what it says:
If you want to check the pieces from the review, here are the full links.
u/SuggestionAfraid3257, r/rep, 10 April 2026
That is a buyer attaching W2C links to their own photographs, which is the single most useful post format in any rep sub and the one that decays fastest. The links in that comment are already stripped in our stored copy. If you meet one in the wild that no longer opens, the link decoder recovers the item id straight from the URL's shape without a network call, so a dead agent link from two years ago still resolves.
The "direct" question that keeps surfacing here
Both of the r/rep threads we hold touch buying without a shopping agent — one recommends going to Weidian yourself, the other is a haul the buyer describes as direct. That is a live argument in this hobby rather than a settled one, and the constraint driving it is simple: Chinese sellers mostly do not ship abroad or take foreign cards.
Some do, some will if you message them, and many will not. A comment we hold about a different seller entirely, from r/weidianwarriors, is the clearest statement of the wall people hit:
i want to buy from victoria reps but i dont wanna use an agent and they said they dont do direct lol
u/atkmunch11, r/weidianwarriors, 9 September 2025
What a shopping agent is covers what you give up and what you get when you route through one, and how to choose a shopping agent covers the choice itself. This site takes a commission on every agent link it publishes, which is stated plainly on the methodology page, and it is why you will not find us naming a favourite anywhere.
What nine sellers and two comments cannot tell you
They cannot tell you whether this sub is better or worse than any other, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Two comments is not a sample. What the shape of the data does support is narrower and more useful:
- A generic-name sub catches names early. The two sellers we hold from r/rep alone are exactly the profile of a store that has been posted somewhere but not yet argued about anywhere — one of them reaches our record through a single post carrying a brand list two dozen entries long and a handful of replies.
- A name with no second room is a name with no cross-check. That is not a mark against the seller. It is a description of your evidence, and it should change how much you are willing to spend on a first order.
- The oldest quoted comment about any of these nine sellers dates from 2 March 2021 and the newest from 29 June 2026, which is a five-year spread across nine names — thin per year, and thinner still per seller.
Every quote above is linked to its original thread from the sellers index, where you can read the surrounding conversation instead of our excerpt of it. If you are working out what to do with a name you found in a list like the one quoted here, how to evaluate a rep seller is the next page, and r/CoutureReps and r/Yupoo show what the same arithmetic looks like for two very different rooms.
